Aug. 3rd, 2005 07:43 pm*Ingress has been antsy all morning, as if she'd forgotten an appointment or misplaced something important. She was on a short leave back in Haven, and quite enjoying the break. She had nothing of note to do, although there were a few gatherings she planned to attend later in the evening.
She kept thinking of Milliways, as if she needed to be there for some reason. She supposed she could visit for a time, but she only had a few days at home and at leisure, and she really wanted to be able to spend some time with Lyan, a fellow Herald she'd fancied for quite a while now who seemed to fancy her back.
Besides, she'd planned on an extra long visit over the holidays so she could meet her new baby niece, Julia, and become reacquainted with her nephews who were just now getting old enough for some serious mischief. She would be back soon enough.
As the afternoon wore on, she couldn't get over the niggling feeling that there was something she needed to do.
Back in her rooms, she began searching for something. She wasn't sure what it was, but she had to find it.
Finally, at the bottom of her chest, her hand grasped a smooth wooden object wrapped in a silk cloth.
Eddie's yoyo. He'd given it to her the day she'd left for Valdemar, and told her to keep it safe. He'd told her something else, though she couldn't quite remember what. Something about knowing when to use it, knowing how...
She stands, her fingers caressing the wooden toy. She winds the string around and around, recalling the memories the yoyo would unwind for her on nights she was feeling a little homesick or suffering the teen-aged angst that existed no matter which world you grew up on.
She lets it go, snapping it-

The string looped round her finger, the air surrounding her... there are doors there, and they want to-
