The tea party room in the House of Arch has been re-arranged. The chests of dress-up clothes are still there, but the large table is gone. In its place are comfy, overstuffed chairs, a long sofa, and several cushions and bean bags scattered about. There is a small table loaded with snacks like crisps, dips, cupcakes, candy, and soda. There's also a veggie tray and cheese and crackers for all of those over age eight.

An old model TV hooked up to VCR is set up with several video cassettes of movies such as The Aristocats, Sleeping Beauty, Shirley Temple classics, and other fun viewing choices.

Tom and Door have been busy escorting guests into the House, if they didn't already have access on their own, and the birthday girl greets them with squeeful happiness. Megwyn is already there, standing by a basket of fresh hay and apples. Even Companions need treats.

She is wearing pajamas with unicorns on them with a fluffy yellow robe on over. She is very excited and feeling very grown up. She's going to stay up all night.

"Just like Amy. She had to move to her home, too. As long as you come back for visits, that's fine. Hey, do you want something to eat? We have lots of yummy things to eat."

It's nearly all junk food. YUM!

"I will," Alanna promises, smiling again. "I'd love something to eat. Training ran long today. How about you show me your favorites?"

"I like the cracker and the cheese. Ooh, and the potato crisps. I don't like the dip, though. It's ooshy. And a cupcake!"

"Small cakes," Alanna remarks, investigating the cupcakes. "I think I'll have one of those."

Surely one night of indulgence won't upset her training regimen.

"When my brother and I were small, we used to sneak tarts from the kitchens. It drove Cook mad."

"Really? You took tarts?"

Alanna stealing. HEE!

Alanna nods, grinning.

"He was going to tell father. Thom and I made him see hungry lions following him around the kitchen, and father never found out!"

It occurs to her, belatedly, that she probably shouldn't be encouraging such behavior. She clears her throat and attempts to look stern.

"...which was wrong."

"That's funny! How did you make him see hungry lions? With magic?"

"Aye, with illusions. Thom had to show me how. I wasn't very good at magic, then. Didn't like it."

An understatement.

She thinks a moment. "Sometimes I think it would be nice to have magic like that. Like Tom and Gavroche's magic. But I have my own, and it's nice."

"It is," she smiles. "How is Megwyn?"

Her eyes travel to the Companion.

"She's good. She got to see her Mummy when we went to Valdemar."

"I'm sure that was nice. Did you have a good trip?"

Alanna looks curious.

"We did. I always like going to visit. And now it's only four years before I go for school!"

"So soon?"

She looks a little stricken; forgive her, she's having a hard time believing how quickly the triplets are growing, and they are only a few months old.

"Though I suppose that's not terribly unusual. I was ten when I left."

"It seems like ages away."

Time moves much differently for children.

"I suppose it probably does," Alanna concedes, then grins. "Those of us who are old like to grab on to time and try to slow it down."

Because she's ancient. Clearly.

"Let's go grab cupcakes instead. I have a movie about kitties. Would you like to watch it? They dance and they're cute."

It's Aristocats. Vintage Disney. Everybody wants to be a cat!

"Certainly! Especially if they talk."

She leans down and gives Ingress a one-armed hug before offering her hand.

She takes and leads Alanna and Grace to a very comfortable cushion from which they can watch some talking cats.
