Slumber Birthday Party

The tea party room in the House of Arch has been re-arranged. The chests of dress-up clothes are still there, but the large table is gone. In its place are comfy, overstuffed chairs, a long sofa, and several cushions and bean bags scattered about. There is a small table loaded with snacks like crisps, dips, cupcakes, candy, and soda. There's also a veggie tray and cheese and crackers for all of those over age eight.

An old model TV hooked up to VCR is set up with several video cassettes of movies such as The Aristocats, Sleeping Beauty, Shirley Temple classics, and other fun viewing choices.

Tom and Door have been busy escorting guests into the House, if they didn't already have access on their own, and the birthday girl greets them with squeeful happiness. Megwyn is already there, standing by a basket of fresh hay and apples. Even Companions need treats.

She is wearing pajamas with unicorns on them with a fluffy yellow robe on over. She is very excited and feeling very grown up. She's going to stay up all night.

"It's fine at the moment," she says though. And in some part its true. "And it's easier here, among friends."

And that is entirely true.

Not terribly convinced, Alanna watches her for a moment before linking her arm through Marian's and reaching for another cupcake.

"Here. You have to catch up. We can't leave them all for the children, or they will rot their teeth. It's our moral responsibility."

"Never. They might get sick or go bad if they fell asleep over there."

Marian giggled unable to stop herself, and very absently beginning to realize coming was probably the best idea, too, as she started eating another cupcake.

"They remind me of tarts, a little," she said after another bite, and some frosting on her cheek. "We have tarts with heavy cream. But not like these."

"That's not far from what I said," Alanna laughs. "I was telling Ingress earlier how my twin brother and I used to sneak tarts from the kitchen, until Cook was going to tell our father, and we made him see hungry lions following him around."

Marian looked a little awed by the mention of the illusion, since magic might never become quite common place in her mind, but did giggle at the image.

"That must have been a blast. We rarely got to work something quite so amazing in our childhood thievery."

Alanna wrinkles her nose.

"I was afraid of my magic. Most of it was Thom."

"Thom?" Marian asked curiously, aimlessly and not quite purposely wondering if he was like her Robin from childhood.

"My twin brother," she explains. "He's a mage now."

An odd look crosses her face.

"Was. He's dead."

Marian frowned slightly suddenly, raising a hand. "Oh, my apologies. I didn't mean to bring up such things here."

"It's okay," she says, and it is. "He's in the bar, and-"

Alanna looks torn.

"Let's just say that strange things can happen here."

"I had heard that was possible here."

Marian nodded, a little, not quite sure what to say now, and not noticing she was still equating her location ass the Bar even though Ingress had pointed out it was another world.

Even though she has been out in London Below, Alanna frequently does the same thing.

"Aye," she says, watching the other woman. "But he won't be here long, and neither will I, when you get to the truth of it. We're moving home."

Marian watched her curiously, before asking, "Will you come visiting still?

"Definitely. I'll still be working a few shifts a week, so I'll be around."

Nothing short of losing her door would keep Alanna away permanently.
