Slumber Birthday Party

The tea party room in the House of Arch has been re-arranged. The chests of dress-up clothes are still there, but the large table is gone. In its place are comfy, overstuffed chairs, a long sofa, and several cushions and bean bags scattered about. There is a small table loaded with snacks like crisps, dips, cupcakes, candy, and soda. There's also a veggie tray and cheese and crackers for all of those over age eight.

An old model TV hooked up to VCR is set up with several video cassettes of movies such as The Aristocats, Sleeping Beauty, Shirley Temple classics, and other fun viewing choices.

Tom and Door have been busy escorting guests into the House, if they didn't already have access on their own, and the birthday girl greets them with squeeful happiness. Megwyn is already there, standing by a basket of fresh hay and apples. Even Companions need treats.

She is wearing pajamas with unicorns on them with a fluffy yellow robe on over. She is very excited and feeling very grown up. She's going to stay up all night.

"A Meta- metamorpha- what is that word? Is that what you are if you can change colors and eyes and all?"

"Metamorphagus," she repeats, saying it slowly and clearly. "And yeah. That's the kind of-- being I am. I mean, I'm still a person, obviously, but with extra bits."

Smiling broadly, Nymphadora reaches up to tousle Ingress' hair.

"Have you noticed just how tall you're getting, young lady?"

"Yeah. Door says I'm growing like a weed. But Nynaeve says weeds shouldn't grow that big, and it's my job to pull them out of the herb garden."

'Dora snickers. "Well, Nynaeve's right, any weed as tall as you would be scary. Though you should see some of the ones we had at the Hogwarts greenhouses. I expect Tom's told you about some of 'em."

"Noooo, he never did. He doesn't talk about plants. Why? What kinds were there?"

"Oh, all kinds. Biting geraniums and giant beanstalks and mandrakes... all of them magical, somehow."

"Biting ones? I'll have to tell Nynaeve. Maybe she'll let us grow some! Our magic plants are just boring herbs and flowers."

"I'll get you some seeds," she promises, "and show you how to take care of them. My Head of House was the Herbology teacher, so I always liked the class."

She can't wait to see what Nynaeve does when a plant tries to bite her. Maybe she'll bite back. That will be fun.

"Thanks, 'Dora." She hugs her. It's not as easy with Charlotte in the way, but Ingress manages.

Grinning, 'Dora drops a kiss on Ingress' blue hair, and hugs her tightly.

"Hey, do you like movies? I have one about kitties that talk and sing that we found at the floating market this week. Want to watch it with me? Alanna said she and Grace would, too."

A pause.

"Just don't ask Bernard that question.

She giggles. "Okay. Come on. We got lots of extra cushions and pillows so we can sit on the floor."

She leads Nymphadora to the TV corner. With luck there will popcorn and sodas with the movie. And lots of singing and talking kitties.
